Education: Bachelor's degree. Radiologic technology/science - radiographer. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Relocation costs covered by employer. Radiological laboratory. Hospital/medical facility or clinic. Tasks: Explain procedures. Operate X-ray, radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment. Operate computerized tomography (CT) scanners. Operate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners. Operate mammography units. Operate radiation therapy equipment. Position patients. Train technicians, assistants, students or interns. Wear radiation detection equipment to acquire data for use by nuclear medicine physicians in the diagnosis of disease. Perform diagnostic procedures using radioactive materials on biological specimens. Record and process results of procedures. Apply radiation protection measures. Explain procedures and side effects of radiation. Perform basic verification and quality control checks on radiographic and film processing equipment. Record and process patient data. Provide appropriate care and monitoring of the patient during the examination. Supervision: 1 to 2 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Certification of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists. Certification by a provincial or territorial association. Specialization or experience: Specialized environmental skills and knowledge. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Child Abuse Registry check.
