Join Northwood and be part of something bigger.Northwood is currently accepting applications for a Community Programmer to join our team in Halifax and Bedford!Reporting to: Manager, Community Development & SupportResponsibilities:Provides recreational leadership and coordination in the development of programsImplements and evaluates programs and servicesBuilds financially sustainable programsDevelops internal and external relationships to promote the programTasks:Facilitates and participates in the implementation of programs and activities based on needs, interests and capabilities of members/clientsProvides team leadership and coordination in all aspects of programs and clubs; works closely with program leaders, paid instructors and program committeeCoordinates volunteer assignments within Community Recreation providing training and support when neededDevelops and maintains communication links with multiple internal and external clientsParticipates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of departmental goals and objectivesEnsures that the needs of internal and external clients are anticipated and satisfiedEnsures programs and events are financially sustainableAssists in the development of promotional materials relating to the programs and eventsCoordinates all aspects of membership; Promotes membership growthAssists with administrative support needs of Community Recreation as it relates to membership, registration, ticket sales, point of sale system of office, daily deposits of sales and other admin needs of Community RecreationProvides callers, membership, clients and customers with appropriate assistance and informationParticipates as a member of the team in planning and department operationsPerforms other duties as requiredThe ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:Minimum one year experience in providing leadership in planning, implementing and evaluating recreation programs in a community based settingPrevious experience working directly with seniors or at risk population is considered a strong assetPost secondary education in a related disciplineCompleted courses in Gerontology, Health Promotion, Kinesiology or Recreation are considered an assetExperience in geriatric programming is considered a strong assetMust be able to work well with people across various generations and socio-economic backgroundsAbility to work well under minimal supervisionMust be able to work at all Northwood campuses as requiredAccess to reliable transportationHours: 80 hours Bi-weekly 8 Hour shiftsSalary / Benefits: As per the Northwood scaleEffective: ImmediatelyIf you are interested in applying for this career opportunity please click APPLY!Northwood is proud to be an inclusive employer who encourages diverse applicants.
