The Ministry of Social Services is seeking Emergency Duty Workers to provide after-hours emergency support to families in Fort QuAppelle and surrounding area. This term position (9 months or more) offers a competitive hourly wage and flexible, on-call hours based on emergency needs. Working within Child and Family Programs and reporting to a supervisor, employees deliver critical services that support the safety, wellbeing, and stability of vulnerable children and families, contributing to public service excellence and collaboration with community and Indigenous partners. The ideal candidate is adaptable, accountable, and client-focused, with sound judgment and the ability to respond effectively in crisis situations. They demonstrate professionalism, collaboration, and strong communication skills, while valuing inclusivity and diverse perspectives. The role requires working independently, managing unpredictable situations, traveling across rural and urban communities, and working irregular hours. Candidates require knowledge of human services policies, practices, and procedures, typically gained through a diploma or degree in a related field and/or relevant experience. Strong interviewing, assessment, case planning, documentation, and risk evaluation skills are essential, along with the ability to coordinate resources and de-escalate crises. A valid drivers licence is required, as well as the ability to travel and lift small children. Core competencies include communication, critical thinking, digital literacy, adaptability, and organizational awareness. Responsibilities include assessing needs, developing and adjusting plans, documenting case information, coordinating supports, and addressing safety risks.
